Home Description:

I have been an Adult Foster Home provider and caregiver since 1987, with nearly 40 years of experience caring for older adults with a wide variety of needs. Much of my experience has been with residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, as well as Parkinson’s, diabetes, stroke, heart disease, mobility limitations, special nutritional needs, and other complex medical and personal care needs.

Erika’s Care Home is a Level III Adult Foster Home licensed through Multnomah County. In addition to my regular AFH license, my home holds an Advanced Special Needs Contract with the State of Oregon, allowing me to serve residents with significant and complex care needs who may require a higher level of individualized support. We are located in SE Portland, in the Woodstock neighborhood near New Seasons, within walking distance of many cute shops and cafes.

I am comfortable providing heavy, hands-on care and supporting residents as their needs increase. Over the years, I have learned that there is rarely one approach that works for everyone. When something is challenging, I work closely with the resident, family, caregivers, and healthcare providers to find an approach that works for that individual.

One of the things I am most proud of is the experienced and consistent team we have built. We have a team of seven caregivers and staff our home with two caregivers at all times, allowing us to provide very individualized care and attention. We provide 24-hour care, medication management, memory care, incontinence and personal care, assistance with mobility and activities of daily living, home-cooked meals, personalized activities, and coordination with residents’ healthcare providers.

Our home has five private resident rooms, including two with private half bathrooms. Residents enjoy a beautiful backyard and patio, home-cooked meals, daily pet visits, individualized activities, and a quiet, comfortable home environment.

Most importantly, this is truly a home. Once someone moves in and settles in, they become part of our family. My goal has always been to provide the kind of care that allows residents to remain comfortable, respected, and well cared for as their needs change.
